Welcome to the Writing page. In our room, we have a "Writer's Workshop," which consists of ongoing writing assignments, DOL, Spelling, Cursive Handbooks, typing, and much more. During the course of the year we will cover the district's student learning objectives. Please click the link and view pages 45-51. The revised Alaska state standards are here. The students will explore a variety of writing strategies on a daily basis, including structured and creative writing. More specifically, the students will have four major writing pieces during their fourth-grade year, with poetry and smaller writing tasks sprinkled in. The kids will also maintain a writer's journal, and in the mornings when they first arrive to school, they will be required to respond to a writing prompt on the board. This could be an invoking thought, a joke, a picture, and even a riddle. This exercise is intended to get the brain moving right away! Our major writing pieces may include, but are not limited to: Summer Reflections, Persuasive Essays, Superhero Stories, Expository Books, Speeches, Fictional Narratives.
